So, this has been a WIP for the past month, and I finally finished it last night! I originally colored this with colored pencils, but before I color my art, I always scan the black and white onto my computer. With this one, I was just practicing with my tablet, trying to figure out how to color things digitally better. With this version, I changed the dialogue a bit with this drawing, and Lucy's clothes are a different color now :P I hope that you enjoy this piece! I worked really hard on it! Oh, and just to let you know, I'm going to start posting a new Kid Loki, Real Life, and Crayon adventure every Friday! Here are the links to this weeks other adventures!

Links to other adventures this week:

Original Colored Pencil Drawing: [link]

Every Friday I post three new adventures: a "Real Life", which is anything not involving Asgard (so even crossovers can happen), a Kid Loki, which is Lucy and Young Loki (from the Journey into Mystery and Young Avengers) doing fun stuff, and a Crayon Adventure, which is a cute drawing that I color with crayons. If you have any ideas for a new adventure, comment below or send me a note! I will mention you in the description if I use your idea!!!

Funny story, I saw one of your comics in a Loki group the other day and thought, "I like that someone is doing fanart that's not about Thor being in love with Loki (which is just wrong, in my opinion) or Loki's romantic life or whatever." It's nice to see some art that explores him as something other than a sex bomb (although he's definitely beautiful).

Now that I've digressed enough, haha, onto the feedback! I think you're off to a great start with this digital piece! I like that you tried to include a little shading here and there, because a lot of digital comic artists tend to do flat colors and lines and then leave out the shading. I think if you were to shade this piece even more dramatically, it could look pretty cool and make the characters really pop!

I like the dialogue too (although, small point, interesting is spelled wrong and needs another 'e' ;)), but I think if you wanted to create a comic series it would be helpful to have your text typed out. I read a lot of web comics, and the more handwriting involved, the harder they can get to read. Plus, it lets you focus your tablet abilities on the drawings instead of the writing.

The detail you put into the outfits on Loki and Lucy turned out really well, so keep that up! Your background is just a little bit too plain, and I think that more designs or little details would be fun to have! You could even make custom brushes to make that easier (if you don't know how to do that, I'm happy to explain!), and to create a kind of theme for your pages. Also, I would recommend making the background color a bit less saturated than the foreground, so the character colors pop out more clearly (too much color can hurt your eyes, even if it's happy and fun! I fall into this trap a lot...)

Good work, keep it up!!

Aw, well I'm glad that you like it! Yeah, I am very much aganist slash of any kind, and it drives me NUTS when I see Thor and Loki slash. My best friend and I called each other Thor and Loki and do impressions of them all the time and we vent to each other about slash when we see it :P And yes, Tom Hiddleston is a beautiful man, but the sex bomb stuff is so irritating. It's over done and too easy.

Yeah, shading is getting easier, but I need to work on it more. The next peice that I'm gonna work on it one with Sonic characters, so I have references with shading already done on them. Any tips for shading?

GAH! Stupid spelling. Well you see, I use Sktechbook, so I'm not sure if I can do text boxes with it. Is there a website that you can add text boxes to an already finished art page?

I really don't know how to do backgrounds, and I don't know how to get custom brushes with Sketchbook. And yeah, I realize now that I should have made the background a different color and not so bright :P

Thank you so very much for this wonderful feedback! I really really appreciate it. If you ever offer this again, I will be sure to sign up for it again! Not very much people do this ^_^

What kind of shading are you going for? If you want it to be smooth or semi-realistic, I recommend using brushes at a lower opacity to help blend the colors together. But if you want anime-style block shading, then using a pen-type tool is probably the way to go.

No worries ;) Hmmm, I don't know too much about Sketchbook or anything like that...Is there a help tab in your program? I'm almost positive it would have an add text ability, but that may be the best way to find it.

Backgrounds are insanely hard. I hate them. I'm doing a project right now that involves a ton of backgrounds and it's driving me NUTS. I definitely recommend references for that. Don't worry about custom brushes--they're really a hassle more than anything.

You're so welcome!! I've had a lot of fun with this forum because it lets me see new artwork and get involved with more awesome people on dA.

Sweet! For now I'll be going with the anime-style coloring :)

Oh my word, so the Sketchbook program does not have text boxes (you have to have the pro version) but I just discovered that my Photoshop is working again! So, I'll have to add the text in Photoshop now, but it will work! My adventures this month probably won't have the typed text, but next month they will for sure!

Oh okay. So, do you do your backgrounds by hand?

Just another quick note: I'm starting to do these adventures every Friday (along with two other ones) and I would love it if you check them out everyone now and then. Hopefully I'll be able to show some progress with them over the weeks!

Hooray for Photoshop!!

I try to do backgrounds by hand... :D I'm not very good yet, but I keep practicing!

I'll try and pop by every once and while! They pop in my Loki groups all the time :)
